13-Year Old Dies In Boating Accident
13-Year-Old Is Fatally Struck By Boater
During the summer children all tend to clamor out of their homes and throw themselves into any available pool of water – this is so because water is cool in the summer heat, allows for many games and a great deal of fun. Unfortunately, fun and danger can at times go hand in hand. This was the case for one Bass Lake, California family.
On June 27, 2015, a 13-year-old boy and his 16-year-old aunt were enjoying a day in the sun at the Miller’s Landing Resort on Bass Lake. They were enjoying their afternoon, inner-tubing on the lake. The accident took place when the children fell off the tubes into the water. They were then struck by a private boat that happened to be passing by them at the time. The 13-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while the 16-year-old was airlifted to a hospital. At this time, the authorities are still investigating the accident, however, they do not believe that the driver of the private boat was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Nevertheless, if it is determined that the accident could have been avoided where it not for the negligence of the boater, the family members of the deceased and the injured minors may be able to recover for their losses. Recovery would likely include compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, etc.
