Multiple Injuries After Wild Crash at Gas Station

Eighteen people sustained injuries after a pickup truck crashed into three vehicles and a gasoline pump in Panorama City. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the incident took place at the intersection of Woodman Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard. The truck, towing a concrete pumping trailer, entered the gas station, struck three parked cars, and knocked over a fuel pump. The accident left multiple adults and several children with injuries, and ambulances transported eighteen victims to nearby hospitals. Two other individuals chose to seek medical attention on their own.

No evidence of DUI was found, and the driver was not arrested. Investigators are still working on determining the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Common Car Crash Injuries

Whiplash is a frequent injury resulting from car collisions, even at low speeds, such as those occurring in parking lots. This injury happens when sudden, jarring motion causes neck nerves to strain unexpectedly. Initial symptoms often include neck soreness and a general sense of disorientation. These initial signs can mimic the effects of shock, causing many victims and even medical professionals to delay treatment. Without timely intervention, whiplash can worsen, leading to persistent pain radiating from the shoulders to the wrists, along with neck stiffness. Failure to address these symptoms early can result in long-term consequences.

Internal injuries are also possible, even in low-speed accidents. The rapid movement during a collision can cause internal organs to impact one another, leading to potential damage. Unlike external injuries, internal injuries may not be immediately visible and can be difficult to detect without careful examination. Internal bleeding can develop slowly, akin to a leaky faucet, and may not be immediately noticed by doctors, especially if they are not specifically looking for it. This slow blood loss can quickly add up and become serious if untreated.

Because of these potential risks, it is crucial to see a doctor after any type of collision, regardless of how minor it may seem. Only a medical professional can assess the severity of an injury accurately.

Should You Contact a Lawyer After a Low-Speed Collision?

While a doctor can evaluate the extent of your physical injuries, only a personal injury lawyer can assess your legal rights and potential claim. Low-speed accidents can still lead to serious injuries and substantial medical expenses, which group health insurance companies often refuse to cover. Legal action can provide victims with financial relief and ensure that they are not left with hefty bills.

It’s also important to remember that victims have full control over the legal process and can choose to discontinue the claim at any time if they wish. Whiplash, internal bleeding, and other car crash-related injuries can affect your quality of life, and compensation is warranted for these damages.

Low-speed collision claims also carry a moral element. While some drivers may not take such accidents seriously, holding individuals accountable for their actions can contribute to safer roads and a more responsible community.
