Both Drivers Injured In Traffic Collision
On Monday, May 18, 2015, a traffic collision resulted in both drivers being injured. The car accident was reported to the Sheriff’s Station at approximately 6:00pm Monday evening, prompting a response from the police officers, Volunteer Fire Department, and Volunteer Ambulance and Advanced Life Support. The crash took place at the intersection of Highway 2 and California Avenue, involving a white Nissan pick-up and a black Hummer.
According to the police, the white Nissan pick-up was making a left turn onto California Avenue and failed to properly yield to oncoming traffic. As a result, the black Hummer collided with the Nissan as the Nissan was making the turn. The driver of the Nissan was cited for a right-of-way violation. Reports indicate that neither driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol, and both drivers were wearing their seatbelt. However, upon impact, while the airbag of the Nissan pick-up deployed, the one in the Hummer did not. The driver of the Hummer was injured and taken to the Cabinet Peaks Medical Center following the accident.
In such cases, a single moment can bring about severe monetary loses for unforeseen injuries. Nevertheless, the driver of the Hummer may be able to recover for his losses if he can firmly establish that the accident was caused by the negligence of the driver of the Nissan pick-up.
